About Us

Debbie and Roger purchased an old Welsh farmhouse and 10 acres of farmland and woodlands in 2018.
The first few years were dedicated to renovating the house and creating three rustic holiday cottages from the old outbuildings with all modern comforts, including: woodfired hot tubs and private terraces. Following our aim to live a sustainable lifestyle, we call this business The Good Life Wales following on from Tom and Barbara Goods characters in the 1970s comedy.
Now we are developing complementary services in our woodlands and fields promoting “Nurture with Nature” – escaping the busy lifestyles we find ourselves immersed in and exploring ways to get back to Nature.

Brecon Beecombs
Roger has been working with bees since 2017 attending hives for several of his gardening clients and more recently setting up our own apiary at The Good Life Wales.
As well as the hives of honey bees, Roger is also creating habitats for many other bee species within the woodlands. Structures to encourage all types of bees have been constructed in many places and can be visited by our clients.
We are also developing wild meadow areas; forest gardens and areas of lavender and many other bee friendly flowers and plants to encourage our bee community
Our courses initially give a classroom background to all aspects of bee colonies and the intricacies of their hives and the life of a honey bee.
Hands-on training is also a key part of the course to give you a full immersion into the daily workings of being a beekeeper.
Brecon Beecombs is a play on words to link our beautiful surroundings of the Brecon Beacons with the fascinating life of the honey bee.
The iconic slopes of Pen y Fan mid Wales’ highest peak is visible from our woodlands and creates the backdrop of our apiary and the outside teaching areas.

Apitherapy from our Apiary
In May 2025, I had the privilege of attending a truly transformational course in Romania for Advanced Apitherapy — the Intensive Apitherapy Course & Workshops led by the globally recognised Dr. Ștefan Stângaciu. Held in the tranquil village of Mereni-Conțești in Dâmbovița County, the course gathered practitioners, beekeepers, and health advocates from across the world to deepen their understanding of the healing power of the hive.
Apitherapy — the use of bee products for therapeutic purposes — has long been respected in Eastern Europe, but in recent years, it’s gaining global attention for its natural, sustainable, and scientifically backed benefits. As someone passionate about both bees and wellness, this course was a vital step in my journey to integrate apitherapy into our offerings at The Good Life Wales and Brecon Beecombs.
